Fabric Inspiration
How to choose the right fabric?
We know choosing the right fabric is a big decision and it can be bewildering with all the many options available.
We’ve provided some guidance below on different fabric types to help get you started…
Before making a firm decision on your fabric, we strongly recommend that you order samples. How the fabric looks online may look very different ‘in real life’. Choosing the right fabric is as much about how it feels to touch, as well as how it looks. It’s important to see the fabric in situ, how it behaves in different light conditions and how it ties in with your decor.
Most of our fabric suppliers offer a sampling service so you can order swatches direct to your door!
If you prefer a more collaborative approach, we offer a free consultation, where you can browse our range of sample books from our workshop. Contact us to make an appointment.
If you have no idea where to start, consider the following the questions to narrow your search:
Are you looking for a plain / block colour or a pattern?
Do you want it to blend harmoniously with the space and surrounding decor or to contrast and make more of a statement or even clash?
Consider your colour palette - muted neutrals or bold brights?
If you’re looking for a pattern, do you have a theme in mind? Geometric or organic shapes?
Consider how you want the fabric to feel - smooth / flat or more textured?
Is choosing a natural or ‘eco-friendly’ fabric an important factor?
