We aim to reply to quote enquiries within 2 working days.
Our initial estimate will outline:
the estimated cost of the work/labour
the approximate amount of fabric required
our availability and typical duration for completing the work.
Fabric and any specialist materials required will be costed separately.
Unless requested, our initial estimate will be based on the assumption that the piece requires recover work only.
(To understand the difference between ‘recover’ and ‘reupholstery’ see our FAQs)
Our recover upholstery service includes as standard :
Stripping : We remove the top fabric / cover
Inspection : We check the condition of foams, springs, webbings and other parts.
Templating: We create a template using the existing covers.
Fitting: We add new polyester wadding and fit the new cover material.
Finishes: We add trims and finishing details as required.
We can provide a collection and delivery service on request for an additional fee depending on your location.

We usually charge non-refundable 50% deposit to secure the work and to cover the cost of fabric / materials upfront.
Once the work is underway, we will keep you updated on progress and should we make any surprising discoveries (hidden damage/repair work) we will discuss this with you before proceeding.
-
On completion of the work we will contact you to arrange collection/delivery and issue the invoice for the balance.
Payment is requested before your furniture is returned.

Frequently asked questions
-
Generally, a ‘recover’ means that only the top fabric is replaced; everything that lies beneath is in good condition and left intact. Whereas, to ‘reupholster’ involves stripping the piece back to its bare bones.
The reality is that most jobs will sit somewhere in between. It might be that it’s structurally sound but some of the foam has disintegrated and needs replacing (typically seat cushions or armrests get the most wear). In traditional pieces the springs may have come loose or slipped over time and need re-securing.
Generally, unless requested, we estimate the cost of the work on a recover basis. However, we will assess the condition of each piece on a case-by-case basis and discuss any additional work required with you before going ahead. It is only once the piece is on the bench / operating table and cut open that we can determine the work necessary to bring it back to life as good as new.
-
Lead times will vary depending on the scale/scope of the project, materials required and availability of fabric. Generally, we aim to turn around projects within 2-4 weeks from the point that the item is in the workshop.
-

There are businesses (local and national suppliers) dedicated to selling upholstery foams. If you’re local to Manchester there’s the Foamshop Manchester (based on Oldham Road). description
-
Yes and no. We would repair damaged parts of a piece of furniture as part of a full recover / reupholstery job, but we don’t generally carry our what might appear to be small repairs.
-
We’re not a strictly a ‘shop’.
Our opening hours are generally 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday and you’re welcome to visit us in our workshop but it’s best to make an appointment first to avoid times when we’re out on a collection / delivery or site visit.
We do however have an online shop where you can browse and purchase from our made to order collection and one-off pieces.
We do not sell upholstery foam, fillings or sundries.
