Project with Diane Berry Kitchens: bespoke seating area as part of a home renovation for a high-end client in Hale, Altrincham.
Drawings were provided and we worked with our CNC partner to construct the bespoke shaped seat and back panels.
Upholstered in Romo's Kiku in taupe - a chenille with a small-scale, basket weave design. Durable whilst complementing the neutral palette of the interior.
The particular challenge with this design was fitting the surrounding fixtures and fittings, and the cantilevered seat feature - ensuring it meets the aesthetics whilst being robust and ultimately comfortable.
Side Street - a day-to-night cocktail bar in Spinningfields, Manchester.
A collaboration with M3 Industries who were commissioned to design the frame to the client’s brief: an extended banquette with a mid-century aesthetic and lounge feel.
We sourced a fabric to match, with durability and stain resistance as a priority but an alternative to vinyl to add character and a homely vibe. We settled on Moss by Kvadrat - a commercial grade chenille with a twisted yarn, textured finish. Seams topstitched for added durability and simplicity.
À bloc - a neighbourhood cafe in Hale, Altrincham.
Upholstered in a woven fabric of blended wool and plant-based fibres ('Main Line Flax' in Harrow by Camira). A sustainable choice aligned with the values and overall aesthetic of this suburban coffee shop.
We purposefully divided the banquette into separate sections for longevity. In the event it’s damaged/soiled (likely for a busy cafe!) it’s easier and more cost effective to replace a section than reupholstering the whole unit.
A bespoke ‘back-to-back’ banquette for Public - a Brooklyn inspired bar on Stevenson Square in the heart of Manchester’s Northern Quarter.
Upholstered in pigmented leather (Vele Terrapin by Crest leather), pleated to create a ruffled effect, secured with a piped edge.
The challenge with this project was designing the piece so it was transportable. We worked with our CNC partner to have it constructed so it could be assembled on site but appear as one solid piece.
Koffee Pot - an iconic brunch spot and Manc institution in the city's vibrant Northern Quarter
For the red zone, we collaborated with designer Rob to create an American diner feel with an edge… Working with our CNC partner, the seats were constructed to create a distinctive chevron shape. For an open-all-hours café wear and tear will be inevitable over time, so we designed the seating with removable sections rather than fitting as a whole piece.
We worked on refreshing two areas of the cafe with distinctly different vibes...
The blue zone has a different vibe - a large curved booth, perfect for larger groups, elevated with a mid-century aesthetic and classy lighting.
It's all in the details - the buttoned back panels and rounded shape adds an air of sophistication that contrasts with the more 'edgy', casual side of the café.
Kitchen banquette for a private client in Chorlton, Manchester. We worked with pre-drawn designs by our CNC partners - the client wanted a simple dining bench to match the aesthetic of the newly fitted kitchen. Upholstered in vinyl - a suitable choice for a busy household with young children - robust and wipeable. Designed with a floating backrest to make a feature of the exposed wood and a pull-out drawer for all-important extra storage.
A collaboration with Woodwork Interiors to design and build a statement seating area-come-room divider for an office on Manchester’s King Street. (Photographs taken in our workshop prior to installation on site.)
Upholstered in a commercial grade chenille fabric for durability with a slightly distressed look.
A combination of the convex, curved shape with top-to-bottom fluting, tapering outwards on the seat certainly added some challenges from an upholstery perspective! Joins were strategically sewn to minimise ripples and puckering in the fabric - a lot of tailoring was required to ensure a snug fit and quality finish.
